Billing

DevSpec is usage-based. Your organization keeps a prepaid balance in dollars, and every piece of work DevSpec does — a conversation with Dev, indexing a repository, a spoken answer, a background review — is charged against it at its exact cost. There are no seat fees, no subscription and no tiers: every feature is available to every organization.

Getting started

  • A first organization starts with $15 of usage, on us.
  • Your first repository's first full index is free.
  • A card is saved when you set up your organization. Nothing is charged until you add funds or turn on auto top-up.

Adding funds

Billing admins add funds from Settings → Billing.

  • Add any whole-dollar amount from $5 to $50,000. The amount you pay is exactly what lands on your balance.
  • Your balance never expires.
  • Prices are in USD before tax. Local currency options are shown at checkout.

Auto top-up

Auto top-up keeps work moving without anyone watching the balance. You set three dollar amounts:

  • When the balance falls below a threshold you choose,
  • DevSpec adds an amount you choose to your saved card,
  • and never charges more than a monthly limit you choose.

The rule is read back to you as one sentence, for example: "When the balance falls below $25, add $25. At most $500 a month." If a charge is declined, auto top-up pauses and the billing admins are emailed; saving the settings again turns it back on.

Limits

Billing is money only. How the balance may be used — the Dev & voice share, each person's allowance, and a limit per project — lives one tab over, under Settings → Usage & limits. When Dev, voice or a project reaches one of those limits, the message says which limit it was, and an admin can raise it there without adding funds.

Spend

Owners and admins can see what the balance is going on, and where it is heading, under Settings → Usage & limits → Spend. It leads with the current calendar month: your balance, what has been spent so far, a forecast for the month as a range (built weekday by weekday from the last four weeks, once there are two weeks of usage), how long the balance lasts at that rate, and your auto top-up rule with the day the next top-up would fall due. Below that you choose a period — the last 30 or 90 days, any calendar month, or a custom range — and see what changed against the previous period, then spend by kind of work, by project, by session and by connected agent. The per-project figures can be downloaded as a CSV that matches the page to the cent. Every view is a different cut of the same spend, so nothing is counted twice. Nothing about spend is shown inside a session or on a project's analytics page.

Transaction history

Every movement of the balance — funds added, usage, refunds — appears on the Transactions page in Billing settings, with a date, a type, a dollar amount and the balance after it. Filter by type and date range to find specific entries.

Payment methods

  • All payment processing is powered by Stripe.
  • Add, update or remove cards from the Billing settings page. Saving or changing a card does not make a charge.
  • The saved card is used when you add funds and for auto top-up.

DevSpec never stores your card details. All payment information is held securely by Stripe.
